Massive Collisions Delivered Metal to Early Earth
New simulations show the total amount of material delivered to Earth in the aftermath of Moon formation may have been 2-5 times greater than previously thought.
The distance to the Moon is measured to a precision of a few centimeters by bouncing laser beams off reflectors placed there by the Apollo astronauts.
