Large Impacts Could Have Triggered Global Tectonics on Early Earth
Impact cratering was a dominant geological process and likely played an active role in the early tectonic evolution of terrestrial planets.
The distance to the Moon is measured to a precision of a few centimeters by bouncing laser beams off reflectors placed there by the Apollo astronauts.
